So long, and thanks for all the fish...

Well, I'm leaving the country in a few hours and with it, I'm leaving Xanga, myspace, Blogger, LiveJournal, and all that too... I now have a website to call my own and do with as I please.  Exciting, eh?  Don't worry, I will still comment on all the sites that I usually do if I am so inclined.

I present:
www.dk-today.com

Any advice or recommendations on how to make this more user-friendly would be greatly appreciated.  In other words, "feedback" is the word of the day.

Thanks for everything, everyone!  I will see you in June.  Prayer is priceless; code words will be needed in emails, etc., etc., etc...

Burning my cell phone

Hey all, this is an announcement that my cell phone will be "burned" in a couple days.  So, if you want to reach me locally for the last time in a few months, now would be the time!  (I'll hopefully answer...)

And my new website is almost ready, I'll be redirecting everyone there soon!

The eye of a needle, eh

I read this yesterday, "Is the love of money the same as the fear of none?"
Hmm.

The Marshall Field's Display

I got to visit the Marshall Field's display, finally!  If you didn't know, this year they have recreated the Cinderella story with a Christmas twist and have taken out the part where the step-sisters' toes get cut off.  : )  And if you aren't from the Minneapolis area, Marshall Field's puts on a display every year of animatronics that tell a random Christmas story.  Last year it was Snow White... in 1991, it was Pinnochio.  It has fast become a tradition for day-cares every where.  (And college students)

At the end of the storybook "walk," this year, they had these little toy houses that kids could go in and have their pictures taken.  I think they put them up for all the families who don't believe in Santa Claus, because that line was at the other end of the room.

Well, I was with my friends(two of which were guys), and we couldn't resist a picture ourselves.  The girls went in flawlessly and got theirs taken, but I wanted to wait till the path was clear, you know- to avoid laughter, humiliation, and utter depression.  When the path was clear, I backed my way into the little house and waited for Sarah to take my picture.
Then... out of nowhere, a little boy came running up and probably peed in his pants when he saw me.  He turned around and said, "Daddy, there's a big kid in there!"  What a understatement that was.  I slowly made my way out of the house and startled the father when he realized that I was a really big kid, twice as big as himself.

Amidst the laughter, humiliation, and utter depression, we left.  And that was only one of the awkward stories last night.

Party hearty-

I ended up going to three different parties last night.  3!  Is this normal?  Does everybody go to 3 parties in one night?  Call me odd.  I, honestly, only planned on going to one.  My friend d-dawg was speaking at a home church gathering of sorts.  AND, many friends who I haven't seen in a while were going to be there too.

Then, my mother said that her college's party was the same night.  There are also many friends there who I hadn't seen in a while.  It started earlier than my other one, so I thought I'd stop by... I did! and I got free coffee from Caribou.  Call me moocher.

Afterward, I made the long trek to the southside and heard d-dawg preach it up.  He talked about unity in the entire body of Christ.  Some pretty good stuff.  (They had food there too!)

After THAT, we went to a Christmas party at Pastor Gary's house, the InterVarsity leader at Normandale.  'Pretty cool guy... And there, there were even more good friends.  Gosh.  Food, friends (I saw others who I haven't seen since before the summer), "dancing", awkward stories, mafia, white elephant gift exchanges- everything a good Christmas party needs!

I will never be normal.
